Weight management hypnotherapy in London and online

Explore the habits, emotions and expectations around eating, with an approach shaped around your circumstances.

Why is it hard to change a habit even when I want to?

Wanting to change your eating habits does not always make the next step straightforward. Food may be linked with comfort, reward, routine or the first chance to pause after a demanding day. Strict expectations can also make one difficult moment feel like a reason to give up.

In sessions, we can explore those patterns without reducing them to a question of willpower. We begin with what you want to change, how it fits into your life and whether hypnotherapy is a suitable form of support for you.

What we can explore

The focus is on your experience and behaviour, rather than prescribing a target weight or a diet. Examples include:

  • noticing when eating is connected with stress, boredom or a familiar routine
  • understanding all-or-nothing thinking around food and habits
  • finding other ways to respond to emotions or take a break
  • setting manageable goals and responding constructively to setbacks

Weight is influenced by many factors. This work does not promise a particular amount or speed of weight loss, and progress may mean a change in habits or how you relate to yourself rather than a change on the scales.

What might a session involve?

My Hypno-CBT approach combines conversation with exercises chosen together. We might use imagery to rehearse a particular moment, such as arriving home after a stressful day, and explore the choices you would like to have then.

We may also practise relaxation, notice an automatic thought without treating it as an instruction, or develop a coping statement for a setback. Any practice between sessions is agreed with you and reviewed in light of what actually happens in daily life.

This is a collaborative exploration. We do not assume that the same exercise or explanation will fit everyone.

Is this the right kind of support?

These sessions focus on habits and emotional patterns; they do not replace medical care or individual nutritional advice. If weight changes may be connected with a health condition or medication, discuss that with your GP.

If you have, or suspect you have, an eating disorder, speak with your GP about appropriate specialist support. This service is not presented as eating-disorder treatment. The NHS explains support for eating disorders and options for weight-management care.
